Taking a family holiday abroad can be stressful in some ways, but it doesn't need to be. Germany has become a favorite travel destinations for many because of all the family-friendly attractions and events they offer all year long. If you've been looking for a great place to take your family, keep reading to learn more about why Germany should be where you go.

Family Holiday Ideas in Germany

Here are some great ideas for a family vacation in Germany.

Follow the Brothers Grimm- Adults and children alike will enjoy a new tourist route through Germany that highlights various fairy tales written by the Brothers Grimm. The route was set up as a way to celebrate over 200 years of the long lasting tales for children. A quick four hour train ride from London to Cologne, this makes a great short weekend adventure for the family.

Heligoland- This small archipelago was once a part of Britain, and it shows. Many compare the city to Scarborough - except that it's in Germany. When it comes to natural beauty, Heligoland is tough to beat with it's large, red cliffs jutting out from the sea. Full of cozy cafes and small cottages, this is a great place to get away from the hustle and bustle of modern life - especially if you live in a metropolitan area like London.

Berlin- There's a lot to see in Berlin, of course, but one of the things that makes this a great city to take the family is that they have numerous "kindercafes" available. These make for great rest steps in between seeing the sights in Berlin. If you're traveling with small children, this might make a good destination. When not resting and refueling at one of the kindercafes, you can check out the Brandenburg Gate and all the other history available in the city.

Christmas at Europa Park - If you're planning on going on holiday during the last quarter of the year, considering spending your Christmas at Europa Park. Your children will most likely enjoy all the events and activities that are available in Southern Germany. There are 12 zones that celebrate the culture of different parts of Europe. Your children will be too enthralled with all the rides and attractions to notice this, but it goes to show how well thought out the park was when it was first constructed.

Beaches in the Baltics- If you're looking for fun in the sun on sandy beaches, you're going to want to look at East Germany. Specifically, RĂ¼gen is a great destination in Germany for families on holiday. A small island on the Baltic sea, not too many people know about this destination. This is good because it means you're not going to be drowned by other tourists when you're visiting.

German holiday apartments are available at Casamundo holiday homes. They have a lot of great choices for families of all sizes. Before you try to put together an adventure abroad on your own, it makes a lot of sense to talk to people who have experience putting together the best family vacations.

  1. I always wanted to visit Germany with my wife, since we're a fan of World War 2 documentaries. Although we need to save a lot money for this type of vacation.
