Holiday Safety – Keep Your Gadgets Safe When You Travel Abroad

Your personal gadgets, like your laptop, smart phone, MP3 player and digital camera can add a lot to your holiday. Even if you don't plan to be spending your time abroad calling home and keeping up with your friends on Facebook and Twitter, you devices will allow you to amuse yourself on a flight or airport layover with some fun games, give you music to listen to and books to read by the pool, and of course let you capture all the cool things you see as photos and films.

Of course, all of the gadgets you own are worth a lot of money, and when you are in a foreign country where you aren't familiar with your surroundings or what is safe to do, you may worry about having these devices stolen, losing them, breaking them or even having them confiscated (in some parts of the world). Here are some tips to help you protect your valuable tech gear.

Only Take Out What You Need, and Secure the Rest:
If you head out for a day's sightseeing or activity, then don't assume your things will be safer with you than left behind in your hotel. If you are only planning to take pictures, then there is no point lugging your laptop, Kindle, iPad and GPS system around with you where you could break or lose them. If your hotel has a safe, then secure all of the things you aren't taking in there. Otherwise, ask at the desk if they have a safe there that you could use or could take care of your things for you.

Don't Put Your Gear On Display:
When you are out and about, particularly in touristy areas, make sure you aren't advertising all the expensive things you have on you and where you are keeping them when not in use. Walking around with an expensive camera dangling around your neck or pulling out your tablet to check directions in a busy area is not advisable, so use things discretely.
Be Careful Around Water:
Virtually no gadgets (except those designed specifically for underwater use like underwater cameras) can withstand a dunk in the pool or the sea, and many can be badly damaged even by splashes, so when you're on the beach, by the pool, or a boat or anywhere else with open water, keep your phone, tablet, camera and other equipment in a safe dry place.
Check Your Things Are Insured:
Read the small print on any insurance you believe covers your gadgets while you are on holiday, whether it is your home insurance, your travel insurance, mobile phone insurance or specialty device insurance like Protect Your Bubble Gadget Insurance. Be aware of exactly what is covered and for how much. Some travel insurance policies, for example, only cover certain devices up to a certain value, and your home insurance may only cover named items abroad and only with a large excess. Purchase additional gadget insurance or update your home insurance's named item list if need be.

Technology, finance and consumer blogger Laura Ginn travels around a lot, and uses a lot of devices. She's learned first hand the best ways to keep her important tech gear safe when she goes overseas.

Your Guide to Australia

It might be the allure of the beaches, kangaroo burgers, the world’s deadliest spiders, or the mesmerising sound of the didgeridoo – whatever the case, thousands of travellers flock to Australia year round. Because Australia is such a large place, spending a month exploring should be strategically planned out, so as not to miss the best sights.

Getting around.
There are plenty of different ways to get around Australia that cater to any budget and preferences. Taking a plane will allow a traveller to cover the most ground possible in the shortest time, but comes at the highest cost. Trains are an efficient way to travel, and those in Australia are particularly well known for their excellent photo taking ops. People hoping to meet up with other travellers often travel by bus, which as the added perk of drivers doubling as tour guides, plus many buses offer hop-on-hop-off options. For people who prefer being in the driver’s seat, car rentals are widely available - just remember to keep to the left hand side of the road. Once a means of transportation is selected, it’s time to map out the best route.

For the beach bums.
Anyone who wants to spend some time in the Australian sun has endless stretches of coastline to look forward to. The coastal highlights of the land are Fraser Island, Byron Bay and Brisbane. Travelling by car along the picturesque path from Sydney to Darwin takes about three weeks, which leaves just enough time to take in an Outback adventure afterwards!

The adventure seekers.
There’s no shortage of activities for active people in Australia, with a variety of cycling, hiking, climbing, paddling and diving trips available, to suit every level of experience and any budget. Tasmania and the Great Barrier Reef are known for their adventure activities, and be sure to check out some free falling action in a tropical rainforest, at the Cairns Bungy Tower.

The travellers who don’t want to miss a thing.
For the travellers who want to explore Australia inside out, a fail-proof itinerary option is to go clockwise by state, starting in Sydney, heading to New South Wales, and moving onwards to Victoria, Tasmania, South Australia, Western Australia. Then cruise up the west coast and to the Northern Territory, and across to Queensland. There may not be much time for dawdling, but this methodical travel approach ensures a well-rounded experience.

Mandatory stops.
No matter which route you choose, be sure to include some of Australia’s most beloved traveller activities; snorkelling in the Great Barrier Reef, taking a Bush tour into the Outback, visiting Ayers Rock and Kings Canyon, catch some sunny warm weather in Queensland, and visiting Australia’s biggest cities, Sydney and Melbourne.

No matter what your preferences, Australia has something that is sure to please. So sell unwanted dvds, grab your sunglasses, adventurous spirit and bug spray, and be prepared for an unforgettable vacation.

Home from Home at School: Learning a Language Abroad

While the UK government remains ambiguous in its attitude to immigration, EU regulations allow many migrant workers to live and work wherever they choose in the region.  For those seeking employment in the UK one of the most essential skills to master is the language.  Learning English as a second language can not only help you to find employment in the UK and open opportunities to study in the country, but it can be a useful skill for anybody with a thirst for travel.  English is one of the main global languages along with Spanish, French and Mandarin.  The latter is probably the most commonly spoken language and is certainly becoming a truly global language. However thanks to a long history of European colonisation the European languages still remain widely recognised and are also first languages in a huge range of countries across the globe.  English is the most significant of these and taking ESOL qualifications will make travelling or living in countries as varied as the US, Australia and India a simpler prospect.

Basic to Proficient

With the advent of the internet and a range of technological innovations, it is possible to learn a second language from nearly anywhere on the planet.  For those living in EU countries it's relatively easy to learn English in your home nation and the language is commonly learned at school level in many of these countries.  However as EU nationals are subject to less onerous travel and residency restrictions in the UK it can make sense to study the language in its native country.  For many of these students a language school in the UK offers a number of distinct advantages when it comes to real proficiency in the language.  This approach has been used by many people in order to prepare for the Cambridge ESOL exam as a simple way to not only learn the language but begin to understand the culture of the UK.
Endless Homework
For anybody who has tried to learn a foreign language there can be no doubt that the fastest route to success is by doing so in a country in which the language is spoken.  Language classes can easily teach you the basic rules of the language and the vocabulary.  Exams like the Cambridge ESOL exam are based on the technical aspects of the language such as learning to read, write and speak it, while also attempting to understand the minefield of English grammar.  However, classes can only go so far in helping any individual to master the realities of language.  Beyond the class, when learning in the UK, you'll need to practice your skills at all times simply to access basic services.  Apart from this constant approach to 'homework' there are other advantages to learning ESOL in the UK.

Safe and Homely Environments
Many language schools arrange the practical details of your trip and offer a safe, secure and supportive environment in which to visit a new country.  A number also rely on the use of host families to accommodate students during their stay.  This has offers a huge advantage to those learning the language as it offers the chance to become part of the life of a British family and learn far more about the culture and language than would be possible by simply taking classes in your home country.  Students studying in the UK and staying in this type of accommodation tend to report that not only does it make it far easier to prepare for Cambridge ESOL exams, but that the environment can help to get a fuller appreciation of the language and learn to integrate into the culture.

Frankie Hughes is a freelance writer who believes in learning new languages the easy way by immersing yourself in them.  She believes you can prepare for Cambridge ESOL exam papers most effectively by studying in the UK itself.

Most of the escorted tour  vacation are all inclusive like hotels, airfare, local tour, meals, and transportation. If you have to add all the cost you can save some bucks and that's a good deal for me.

9 Things to Remember Before Leaving for Vacation

Vacation time! This is what you are probably most excited about. This is why you have been putting in more hours at the office. This is why you are coming in on Saturdays. And it's finally paying off! Now you get to go on that cruise. You get to relax on the beach. No matter where you are going, you want to be sure that your home is in the same state when you get back. The last thing you want is to get home to find out that your house burned down. Or that a flood drowned all of your belongings. Before you head off to your much needed vacation, make sure you run through this checklist for the safety of your home.
1. Tell a neighbor. Don't just run off without telling anyone. Tell a neighbor so they can pay special attention to your home. She might even be nice enough to come over and water your plants while you are away!

2. Turn off the thermostat or hot water heater. This will eliminate extra cash from accumulating on your energy bills.
3. Leave your credit cards and social security card at home. Take only one credit card for emergencies. Use cash to avoid losing your important credit cards, and spending too much money on souvenirs!

4. Clean your fridge. Throw away that milk so you don't come home to a nasty smelling house. Ick!

5. Take out the garbage and recycling.

6. Unplug all electronics and small appliances. Avoid a fire starting and high energy bills. If you want added protection, look into purchasing a home alarm. Installing a Smith Monitoring home alarm will allow you to remotely access these appliances.

7. Even if you are just going one state over, it's important to make copies of all important documents. You never know if something will get stolen right out of your wallet. If you have copies of your passport or ID, you will be prepared for the worst.

8. Close your blinds and lock your doors. Make sure all entrances to your home are securely locked before you leave for a long period of time. Closing the blinds won't allow a burglar to be tempted to attack your home.

9. Hold all your mail. This is imporant. If newspapers are piling up at your front door and your mail is spilling out of the mailbox, it is practically begging an intruder to rob your home. Be smart! Fool a burglar into thinking that you are still home.

Carly has a degree in English and will talk your ear off about Smith security. She loves to write about DIY home decor and homemade treats for special occasions.

For the love of the Ocean

My spouse and I have no idea of exactly once I first started loving  the  ocean, nevertheless it seems I usually have loved the idea of going to the ocean though I was born and raised with 20 minutes  driving to the ocean but I  have had  no time to appreciate until I live in Western Country.

There are lots of memories  associated with going and planning to the beach   together with  my parents, friends and my spouse. I remember everything from  being there earlier in a day to afternoon pork roast, grilled fish, rice on the seaside in addition to all that could possible  go in between. (I am homesick while writing this post).

I love the Ocean:

Would You Like To Be There?

I wish I were there?

I can't wait for another vacation.

Unlocking the untapped potential of Lanzarote

Holidays in Lanzarote are no stranger to being one of the mainstays of British tourism in the Canary Islands. However, with areas like Playa del Carmen becoming more and more popular with tourists, those in the know are seeking out lesser-known sun spots for their holiday this year.

Currently, one of the most talked about resorts is Playa de los Pocillos in Lanzarote. While this resort remains under most people’s radar, Playa de Pocillos is still a bustling town with lots to offer in the way of amenities and is becoming a firm favourite with families who are looking for sun and relaxation.

What to do:
The stretches of beach in and around Playa de los Pocillos are made of a mixture of rocks and volcanic sand, which gives it an unusual greyish colour. However, no one lets this put them off and the beach is the centre of the action in the town, with sunbathing and watersports high on the agenda.

Where to stay
One of the most talked about hotels in Playa de los Pocillos is the Seaside los Jameos Playa, thanks to its impressive facade and extensive facilities, including a spa, several pool areas, and tennis courts. There are a number of hotels springing up in the area and, because this is a relatively new resort, most of them are newly built and in mint condition.

Insider tips:

Playa de los Pocillos is just down the road from popular tourist resort Playa del Carmen for those craving a bit more nightlife. A short stroll will take party-hunters to the bright lights and bustling bars of the town where they can dance the night away into the small hours. For those who prefer their nightlife a bit more sedate, Playa de los Pocillos offers a relaxed, laid back feel with several restaurants and small, family-run bars in which to while away the evening. These are also great places to try out some of the local cuisine.
How to get there:
The rise of the package holiday operators, such as Jet2holidays, has meant that it is easy for UK sun-seekers to find cheap holidays to Playa de los Pocillos. The most clued-up travellers tend not to hang about and flights during the summertime often get snapped up early. All in all, for those thinking of a trip to Playa de los Pocillos, it's better to book sooner rather than later.

Travelentz Travel Gadgets

What gadgets do you bring on your vacation? Keep in mind we do the tour  that is family friendly since I have a child ages 3. We traveled our baby when she was 2 weeks old for 10 hours on the road. We have no choice considering hubby has to go back to work on that week. We try to drive at least 5 hours a day and stay in the hotel were we could do some sight seeings and relax after the tour.

Canon T1i- I have this camera since 2009 as our anniversary gifts.Hubby thought, its better to used DSLR of   all  my photos since I love flowers and actions photography. So glad he gave the best gift that I have a lot of used were I have a control over my camera's settings, demands shallow depth-of-field effects. If you ask me is if  DSLR or a compact? Both has pros and cons.

Canon EF 60mm macro- This is my walk-around lens  with beautiful bokeh background pattern and used for flowers, small objects photography.  I don't bring this on travel considering I have no time to change lens in public area and I limit my handbag carry because of my diaper bag and stroller.

Sigma 18-250mm- my new baby toy but I have no time to use as of now. I sold my old canon 18-125 lens last month since I like to have all around type of lens. I hope this one will gives satisfaction with my picky eye.I was debating myself if I have to stick with canon but the reviews are pretty darn good compare to canon and the price is reasonable. My other choice was 24-105 lens and it was   expensive, I just give this a try before I upgrade to "L" lenses.

Surefire UB3T Invictus Flashlights- We bring this wherever we go, and we use it on our caving or if we go for a night walk. Hubby can't believed he spent this kind of flashlight but we got a lot of used on it. This could blind you if you focus on your eye  considering it has its selector ring has eleven settings-eight levels of light, from 2 to 800 lumens. We have this surefire flashlights since 2011 and still good 'till this days.

Garmin GPS-We can't live without GPS, our life and days  is easier with this technology. I would say it's 98% accurate but we have a backup map in case something happen to  the GPS. We don't buy a map we just stop in a welcome center and get one there.

Ipad 3rd Generation- My daughter needs entertainment in a long day and we make sure we have something to her so she won't whine and asking every 5 minutes to eat or play with us. When hubby got his Iphone 5 he decided to give it to me but I don't have any interest at all so I gave it to my daughter and sold the ipad 1st generation. Now she's enjoying in he car seat taking pictures of herself, watching  movies  and playing some educational games.

Apple Macbook (White)-I bring my laptop wherever we go so I can blog if I have a time. Though I can borrow my daughter's ipad but all the photos are stored in my laptop, good thing hubby is so nice with me to carry all my junk.

Sony- hubby loves to take  video so he has his own toy and camera. He loves to take video on our vacation hopefully I know how to upload in youtube and edit the video. As of now I have no time to learn the videography. I ask some of his video but his too busy and forgot it.Just enjoy my photos as of now 'till I could share you my videos.

I'm a person who doesn't post any  personal photos in any social media or update my facebook every now and then, most of the time no one knew where we go  except my family. I usually post after our vacation or don't post at all, but I just blog my travel experienced and share to  social media (LOL).
